Addressing Equity Through Multiplication Fluency
In this session, I will be sharing the heart of the strategic thinking for multiplication that applies not only to basic facts but to multi-digit numbers, decimals, and fractions as well. We will begin by exploring how we can interview students about their thinking and with this authentic data, plan instructional responses that further every single child on their learning journey. We will then explore how we can use the very same thinking to multiply multi-digit numbers, fractions, and decimals that allow every child access to grade level content. Through a classroom environment that encourages flexible strategies with all sets of numbers, we will be fostering positive math journeys for all our students.
