Listening To Learn - How Do My Students Reason Mathematically? with Tori Sinco, from Heinemann Publishing
Listening to Learn is a K–5 digital interview tool created by Marilyn Burns and Lynne Zolli that helps teachers learn how their students reason numerically. It’s an assessment for learning that can be used throughout the year to help guide instructional planning. Listening to Learn also includes interactive professional learning labs to support teachers.
Session B
Expeditionary Learning with Bonnie Long from Learn Zillion
Created by teachers, for teachers, the EL Education curriculum is a comprehensive, research-informed, core language arts program. It engages teachers and students through compelling, real-world content. The EL Education K-8 Language Arts curriculum earned all green scores from independent reviewer EdReports. It also received a prestigious tier 1 rating on the Instructional Materials Evaluation Tool for Alignment in ELA Grades K–12 (IMET), which reviews curricula for text quality, range and volume of texts, coherence, text-dependent questions, writing to sources, speaking, listening, language, assessment, scaffolding, and support. Additionally, the curriculum consistently earned high reviews from independent and state and local education departments, including EQuIP, New York State, New York City, Connecticut, and Washington.
Session C
Hands-On Learning: Math from a Distance with Matt Christiansen from Didax
We've learned a lot this past year about just how much students and teachers can do from a distance! In this session, Matt Christiansen will share a continuum for teaching addition facts for understanding with three basic manipulatives. The session includes a live demo of how to use manipulatives to support learning whether in-person or virtually. There will also be a preview of online Teaching with Manipulatives PD.
